The scenic landscape of Santa Barbara County can be serene and a wonder to drive through. But you may not realize that the conditions of any road in the United States, especially in our state, can be a veritable battlefield to say the least. And if it isn’t a road hazard or piece of debris kicked up during your commute, mercilessly attacking your clear coat, it is the bird droppings, tree sap, and bug splatters that leave behind surface discrepancies and an unfortunate exterior appearance.

If your ride has battle wounds from daily driving or an occasional incident from a parking lot, trust At-Ease Detailing, Ceramic Coatings & Paint Corrections to put your mind at ease and your vehicle back on the right track with our paint correction services! Through cutting with compounds alongside an effective buffing and polishing technique designed to exemplify your paint shine in ways never before thought possible, we can remove swirl marks, scrapes, nicks, etching caused by acid rain, stains from those aforementioned environmental contaminants, micro-marring, and more.

The Step-By-Step Auto Paint Correction Process at Our Santa Barbara County Detailing Shop

Vehicle Inspection and Price Quote

At-Ease Detailing, Ceramic Coatings & Paint Corrections does not skip a single step when taking an automobile in for professional paint correction. First and foremost, even if you received a quick quote from us before you booked, we want to double-check your ride entirely for ALL present defects and discrepancies. This integral step during the intake process allows us to give you an accurate final price estimate along with an evaluation of what your vehicle needs. We also supply you with a time-to-completion estimate.

Surface Decontamination and Re Inspection

Every paint correction service with At-Ease Detailing, Ceramic Coatings & Paint Corrections includes a full paint decontamination process, while some also involve our Standard Exterior package to add to the clarity of your paintwork’s condition. Yet much like the concept of measuring twice and cutting once, we follow your full paint decontamination with yet another inspection. Sometimes, dust and dirt can conceal worse defects, so we want to make sure that nothing was missed before we begin.

Abrasion to Level Defects

When we know what is in front of us and you have your final estimate, we begin the cutting process! Using dedicated abrasion and equipment to cut away a very thin layer of your exterior’s clear coat, all defects and discrepancies will be leveled off and your finish will start to look new again. This part of the process also incorporates safe compounds to facilitate a smooth, even cut while avoiding taking your clear coat down TOO close to the paintwork. Here is also where any and every defect we CAN remove with our pro paint correction efforts IS removed. Anything worse will likely require further auto body work.

Buffing, Polishing, and Resulting Gloss Restoration

Once the defects have been leveled and removed from your clear coat, buffing and polishing can begin. We cannot simply leave your ride at the cutting phase, as there will be residual dust FROM the cutting phase clouding up your surface. Buffing and polishing, along with jeweling where necessary, eliminates that cloudiness and actually sparkles and shines your clear coat in a way that was not previously there! This can then be embellished in incredible ways by our IGL Kenzo Ceramic Coatings.

Paint Correction Myths and Answers

Myth 1: Paint correction services can damage my finish

If done hastily or incorrectly, nearly ANY auto detailing service is risky for your vehicle’s paintwork and integrity. HOWEVER, when trusting a highly trained auto care facility like At-Ease Detailing, Ceramic Coatings & Paint Corrections, detailing services, especially auto paint correction, is completely safe and beneficial for your ride. We never rush the process, which is why there are so many inspections along the way during our auto finish restoration efforts.

Myth 2: Auto paint correction can be done as regularly as detailing

This is untrue, and we actually aim our packages in a way that you should hopefully not return to our Santa Barbara County detailing studio for another paint correction unless something drastic happens. Auto paint correction IS in fact a process of cutting your clear coat, though we keep that effort to a very fine amount. If paint correction is performed too frequently, eventually a new layer of clear coat will have to be installed on your automobile to reinforce the integrity of those painted panels.

Myth 3: Newer automobiles are flawless the way they are

We want to be clear on this one: EVERYTHING has flaws, even a vehicle that just rolled off the manufacturer’s assembly line. Things happen, automobiles get exposed to hazards and debris, and even if they are small in scale, new cars, trucks, and SUVs do have swirls, scrapes, scratches, and stains. Our extremely light paint correction efforts will take care of those and in turn, buff and polish the finish of your newer automobile into an amazing realm of intense paint gloss and surface shine you would not have otherwise. This actually brings NEW value to your ride!
